Abstracts
This presentation seeks to encourage the use of cognitive-behavioural interventions in the treatment of problems associated with gender identity disorder (GID). The use of CB techniques in working with the client has proven to be effective in diminishing the psychological and interpersonal consequences associated with GID. Positive treatment outcomes indicate the need for further research into the possibility of integrating CB therapeutic approaches in achieving the general goals of treatment proposed in the Standards of Care for GID and the specific objectives of the person.
