Abstracts
This presentation seeks to encourage the use of cognitive-behavioural therapy in the treatment of insomnia and in the treatment of insomnia that is comorbid with medical and/or psychological problems. The use of cognitive-behavioural techniques in working with the client has proven to be effective in diminishing dysfunctional beliefs and thoughts about sleeping, inadequate behaviors and anxiety. Positive treatment outcomes indicate the need for further research of the applicability of cognitive-behavioural approach in treatment of insomnia that is comorbid with medical and/or psychological problems.
