Movement disorders are amongst the most common forms of neurodegenerative diseases across
the globe. However, there is significant variability among the cognitive and behavioral presentation of typical
and atypical movement disorders. Prevalence rates are discussed along with the relevance of each disorder
to clinical outcome. The importance of a tailored, yet thorough neuropsychological evaluation relevant
to the differential diagnostic considerations is reviewed, including considerations during the clinical interview.
The utility of neuropsychological evaluation in guiding appropriate treatment recommendations and
improving quality of life are likewise discussed.
